Yearnings
by Laivy Hart
Long before we returned to Jerusalem, Jerusalem never left us. In every generation, our prayers, our tears, and our greatest joys carried one name.
For Your Servants Cherish Her Stones
For Your servants cherish her stones,
and treasure even her dust.
Rabbi Abba would kiss the stones of Akko.
Rabbi Chiyya bar Gamda would roll in the dust of the Land.
For Your servants cherish her stones,
and treasure even her dust.
I Rejoiced
I rejoiced when they said to me,
"Let us go to the House of Hashem."
Our feet stood
within your gates,
O Jerusalem.
If I Forget You
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not place Jerusalem
above my greatest joy.
Jerusalem, Built as One
Jerusalem,
built as a city
joined together in unity.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May those who love you prosper.
Rejoice with Jerusalem
and be glad with her,
all who love her.
Share in her joy,
all who mourned for her.
If I Forget You (Repeat)
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not place Jerusalem
above my greatest joy.
One Thing I Ask
One thing I ask of Hashem;
this alone I seek:
To dwell in the House of Hashem
all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of Hashem,
and to visit His Sanctuary.
My Soul Longs
My soul longs—indeed, it yearns—
for the courtyards of Hashem.
My heart and my flesh
sing with joy
to the Living God.
My soul longs—indeed, it yearns—
for the courtyards of Hashem.
My heart and my flesh
sing with joy
to the Living God.
If I Forget You (Final)
If I forget you, O Jerusalem...
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
if I do not remember you,
if I do not place Jerusalem
above my greatest joy.
Those Who Mourn for Jerusalem
Whoever mourns for Jerusalem
will merit to witness
her joy.
Whoever mourns for Jerusalem
will merit to witness
her joy.
Closing
My soul longs, indeed, it yearns
for the courtyards of Hashem.
Every soul has a song
